Mixed Tape // Volume One: Call Out For Writers
Please note that this opportunity has now closed. We will be announcing the selected writers at the end of May, and you can come along to see the chosen pieces on 9th July.
We are hosting this night of rehearsed readings in July, showcasing work by writers who identify as mixed race/dual heritage in order to help tackle issues of representation in the arts. This is an opportunity for writers to see their work staged through script-in-hand performances, with the chance to receive feedback by a live audience, and take part in the creative process.
The theme for this first edition of Mixed Tape is all about identity, but feel free to go crazy and write about anything you want! Whether it’s about your own identity as a mixed race/dual heritage person, or about the identity of a cactus living on Mars, we want to see your take. This is a chance to take risks and explore what identity really means to you.
What you’ll receive:
Dramaturgical support on your script
A live performance of your work
Involve 1-2 actors, but could be multi-rolled
Be complete scripts of 10-15 minutes in length
Be written in English (but may contain other languages)
How to apply:
Send your play along with a short bio about yourself to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please also send us an email if you wish to submit an extract of a longer piece or have any questions. Feedback on scripts will only be given to those selected, with these selected writers being contacted in late May.
Deadline: Midnight 30 April 2019
Please note that this opportunity is for writers based in the United Kingdom, who will be able to travel to London for the performance night on 9th July. As an emerging company, we will unfortunately not be able to cover travel expenses, but we look forward to collaborating with you on this project and bringing your work to life.
